Is Minnesota charitable or not?

It depends on the numbers. According to a report in the Star Tribune, WalletHub’s 2017 ranking has the Land of Lakes at number three while the Chronicle of Philanthropy has Minnesota near the bottom at 41. The discrepancy lies in how charitable giving is measured. WalletHub calculates it based on the percentage of each state’s population that volunteers and the people who donated. The Chronicle of Philanthropy looks at each state’s charitable contributions as a share of its total adjusted gross income. Click here to learn more.
