Communications Strategy | Child Abuse Prevention Month

Since 2020, AmplifyDMC has partnered with FamilyWise to boost statewide awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month (April). As the leader of Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota, FamilyWise supports and advocates for healthy families throughout the year, but looks to draw special attention to child abuse prevention each April.

Building on FamilyWise’s longstanding practice of recognizing its partners in this work through the Pinwheel for Prevention awards, AmplifyDMC saw an opportunity to position FamilyWise as a thought leader on healthy families. We worked with the FamilyWise team to create a resource that would reflect their deep expertise. The result was the Minnesota Family Wellbeing Index, first published in 2022 as a way to report on the health and successes of Minnesota families. This was one element in a broader CAP month communications plan that AmplifyDMC created to support FamilyWise’s goals.

Media coverage was a natural outcome of raising FamilyWise’s profile on this topic, and Amplify’s support in identifying media contacts and doing outreach to reporters led to FamilyWise Executive Director Ann Gaasch’s conversation with Angela Davis on Minnesota Public Radio, among other coverage.
