Affordable housing is a persistent equity issue in Minnesota (and across the country), and since 1997 HousingLink has been on the frontlines, creating opportunities for all community members to find stable housing.
Amplify’s partnership with HousingLink spans several years, over which we have helped the organization expand its range of fundraising “asks” beyond general operating grant requests. This support encompassed our different areas of expertise, from strategic counsel to graphic design to writing.
When HousingLink launched its Housing Hub program, we designed and wrote the copy for the one-page case statement (at right) used to promote and pitch the program to funders. We went on to develop grant proposals for the organization’s different programs, including Housing Hub and Beyond Backgrounds.
We have also helped HousingLink capitalize on creative collaborations. Leveraging our experience as a connector, we helped forge a partnership between HousingLink and the East Metro Crisis Alliance, leading to deeper impact for Beyond Backgrounds and a new landscape of funding opportunities for the program.
Amplify is proud to work behind the scenes supporting HousingLink as their innovative programs lead to powerful outcomes for people in search of affordable housing—people like Ida, whose family struggled to find an apartment before connecting with HousingLink. “I was having trouble getting accepted to an apartment because I have bad credit,” shares Ida. “Thankfully, the landlord was willing to make an exception to their rental criteria since I am part of Beyond Backgrounds. Now my kids and I have a safe place to live.”
“Working with the team at AmplifyDMC has been one of the best decisions for HousingLink,” shares HousingLink Executive Director Sue Speakman-Gomez. “Not only has partnering with them expanded our development capacity and directly led to increased housing options for low-income renters, but it has also taken a lot of the stress out of the development work. We have a lot of fun along the way, and have never missed a deadline!”
